Generations of Retail Experience
The Rising Son was built from generations of retail experience and a deep connection to New Orleans.
Our family has been in retail since the 1960s. Our grandfather owned a store in the city, our uncle has operated shops in the French Quarter since the late ’70s, and our mother spent decades in the business before opening her own store in 2007. In 2010, we opened NOLA Kids, and like many family businesses in New Orleans, everyone played a role.
A Clear Point of View
After years of running successful gift shops, we noticed a shift — our men’s category kept growing, and customers were asking for more. At the same time, we were operating a tween store in this location that never fully recovered after COVID. When our brother joined the family business after years working in the oil field industry, the timing felt right.
We closed the existing store, completed a full remodel in under 30 days, and opened The Rising Son — a men’s store built with intention, experience, and a clear point of view.
The Store
You’ll find The Rising Son at 528 Royal Street, in the heart of the French Quarter.
Most of our customers walk in by chance — visitors discovering the city for the first time, locals stopping in while they’re nearby. Whether you’ve lived here your whole life or you’re in town for a weekend, you’re welcome here.
The Rising Son is designed to feel warm, masculine, and comfortable. Dark woods, black and gold accents, and textures inspired by the city set the tone. It’s elevated, but never intimidating.

From the brands we carry to the way we welcome customers, the city is part of our identity. We focus on New Orleans brands and companies with a history here, alongside trusted national names. You’ll see influences from hunting, fishing, food, football, Mardi Gras, the Fair Grounds, and the everyday traditions that come with growing up here.
This city raised us. We’re proud to carry that forward.
